The English artist and designer, Barnaby Barford, already started to specialise in the production and design of ceramics and porcelain during his studies in Faience and at the Royal College of Art in London.
"It is a wonderfully versatile material and almost any idea can be realised using the ceramic medium." (Barnaby Barford)*
Usually, his ironic designs make reference to already existing figures, which he deconstructs and recomposes or paints. His figures are shown internationally at major trade fairs and exhibitions. The Wallpaper design magazine named him Young Designer of the Year in 2004.
Barford designed the GLOBAL SERVICE
for Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg; this is a series of 14 plates that combine to produce a map of the world. They take up the original idea of table decorations as conversation pieces: as porcelain objects which help table guests unfamiliar with each other to enter into conversation. The signed artist edition is limited to 25 sets per colour.
