Preview Commedia dell'Arte Exhibition Munich
After a development period of two years, Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg unveiled the Commedia dell’Arte Couture Edition – a new limited edition of Franz Anton Bustelli’s Rococo figurine series which CEO Dr Jörg Richtsfeld initiated to mark the 260th anniversary of Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. 16 international fashion designers, including Gareth Pugh, Viktor&Rolf as well as Vivienne Westwood and Christian Lacroix, interpreted the figurines from the Italian Commedia dell’Arte with their creations for Nymphenburg.
For its debut, designers Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram created an exhibition featuring artefacts from the development process of the Couture Edition housed in the historic kiln hall at Nymphenburg. The presentation provides an insight into the production of the porcelain figurines and also explores the rich cultural context of the Commedia dell’Arte.
The artist Florian Böhm, who divides his time between Munich and New York, has added a series of photographic works to the ensemble in which he shows the fashion designers who were involved in the project in their ateliers.
The series of figurines will be available in a limited edition of 25.
