Dr Jörg Richtsfeld

Dr Jörg Richtsfeld, who after graduating in economic studies and completing his PhD at St. Gallen university, was employed as an assistant at the Schweizerische Institut für Banken und Finanzen. Since 2005 he has been responsible for the fortunes of Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg as its CEO. He has more than 15 years of experience in business strategy and has held executive positions in multinational technology and media groups. Dr Richtsfeld regards leading this company a particular challenge because it is unique in that it manufactures its products entirely by hand. "Everything we do is oriented towards constancy and not towards speed. And this is where our work becomes particularly fascinating: the combination of 260 years of experience with the creativity of outstanding artists, to create something new while pushing the boundaries of what is possible." Dr Richtsfeld is continuing a line that Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg has always pursued. Such contemporary designers as Gustavo Lins, Clemens Weisshaar, Pae White, Christian Lacroix and Vivienne Westwood have been invited to develop new pieces or – as with the Couture Edition 2008 of Franz Anton Bustelli's COMMEDIA DELL'ARTE – to create new designs for figures from Nymphenburg's grand historic repertoire.
