During the one and a half years that he worked for Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, the sculptor Wilhelm Neuhäuser created a total of 17 animal models. One of the most popular is this small mouse with pedestal. Neuhäuser managed to capture the small rodent in a moment of natural movement and heightened alertness. The lifelike representation with all its shading is seen to particularly good effect in this version in unglazed biscuit porcelain.
