The more white elephants that a Thai king possesses, the greater his prestige is. The same should also be true of collectors of porcelain elephants, for the wealth of gestures and facial expressions of the different animals make the greatest impression when together in a group. It also offers a reason for why Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg's repertoire of figures features no fewer than two dozen elephants. This ten centimetre high animal figure with raised trunk, by August Göhring, has graced the herd since 1940.
