    Design August Göhring, 1940
    Height 10 cm

Many porcelain connoisseurs and aficionados appreciate the purity of the white body in particular, for it is only in the purity of the shape that an animal figure’s gestures, facial expressions and characteristics can really be appreciated. If one compares this young elephant with its richly coloured, hand-painted equivalent, one can see completely different stylistic elements. August Göhring, who was born in Thuringia and worked at the Nymphenburg manufactory as a full-time model maker, designed this figure – a mere ten centimetres high – in 1940.
