The photographer and artists Michael Tummings has created his first figurative work, “Huntsman I”, in collaboration with the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. His work will be presented to the public for the first time in fall 2014 in the art space of the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg (Nördliches Schlossrondell 8, 80638 München). For over a year, the Jamaican artist examined the theme of the hunt and the historical hunting figures from the Nymphenburg repertoire in depth. Working closely with the master workshops he created a contemporary interpretation of an archetypal theme: the limited edition adds a contemporary perspective to the extensive historical repertoire of hunting scenes through his sculptural work.

In 2008, Michael Tummings burst into the world of European hunting as an outsider and, inspired by these experiences, created a portrayal of an aristocratic huntsman in white bisque porcelain. The fine details are shown to particular advantage on the pure white of the bisque porcelain: from the individual buttons, to the shoelaces, to the cord on the hat - everything is portrayed naturalistically. The artist, who lives in Munich, dedicates himself to the theme of hunting, the oldest form of the subjugation of nature by mankind. He views the subject from the perspective of a photographer, in an almost photo-realistic manner.
