Was Franz Anton Bustelli a fashion guru? We might think so, given the sophisticated cut of the clothing on his figures. He “tailored” an individual outfit onto the body of each figure in keeping with their character and manner. This Chinese Boy Requesting is wearing a striped skirt and yellow undergarment with rusty-red shoes. The 24-carat fine gold stripes are matte after firing and are subsequently polished with agate or ruddle to achieve the characteristic warm and deep shine.
