The “Chinese Man with the Glockenspiel” is among the outstanding figures in Franz Anton Bustelli’s ensemble. This is reflected both in the elegant physiognomy of the stately figure and its meticulous painting. Taking their cue from models from the 18th century, the craftsmen firstly applied the decorative elements to the figure with pencil, then completely freehand with paintbrush and paint. Thus every eyelash, every shade of complexion and every presumably embroidered flower on the clothing is always unique.
