Chinoiserie · Painted · Chinese with 'Serpent'

    Product number 01.138
    Detail Hand painted
Design Franz Anton Bustelli, approx. 1757
    Height 15 cm

Canary-yellow wide breeches, purple jacket: However, the real trademark of this “Serpent Player” is his extravagant hairstyle. Numerous individual steps are involved from the moulding through to drawing the bold line of the eyelids in rusty red to help this small figurine, just 15 centimetres tall, make a big statement. And that is just what the young musician does. As casually as a jazz artist, he seems to sway back and forth to the rhythm of his masterful music and encourage the other exotically dressed figures in the Chinoiserie group by Franz Anton Bustelli to dance.
