Collector’s pride and the need for prestige call for showpieces. It seems Franz Anton Bustelli also knew this when he created this Chinese Woman Sacrificing around 1757. The individual elements comprising the figure are cast and assembled by hand. Then the retouching work on the facial features and casting seams begins. Finally, the lady, reverently bowing toward the ground, is decorated with elegant accessories – a pearl necklace and a bow around her waist. These often very characteristic details are formed individually freehand and then attached to the figurine.
