Even a master of porcelain sculpture is sometimes faced with problems: If the weight of this benevolently smiling Bonze is just a fraction too high, there is a risk that the base will deform during firing. Which is why as early as the casting stage and when extracting the still unfired porcelain from the mould, the Manufactory's experienced craftsmen carefully control the weight of the individual parts of the figure. Even small components such as hair or flowers must not be too heavy. Only in this way can they ensure that the idol at the centre of the group reigns supreme over his worshippers.
