The base on which the childlike allegory of summer can be seen here serves two purposes. Firstly, Ceres, holding a large wheat sheaf, sticks out of the festive roasts and pies. Secondly, we can immediately say from which master workshop the 18-centimetre-tall figurine comes from. For by way of reference to the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, in the 18th century putti designed by Franz Anton Bustelli were positioned on a high base bearing the Bavarian diamond shield. The putti were not, as today, attached to the base.
