    Design Franz Anton Bustelli, 1755/57
    Height 12 cm

As we can read in the 1773 handbook for upper-class women, porcelain allegories and figurines were primarily presented during dessert. As a symbolic stroll through mythology, so to speak. Luna, the ancient Roman moon goddess, offers a taster of the falling night. Franz Anton Bustelli’s dynamic figure is holding the flat crescent of the moon in her left hand, above her head. The moon seems to be looking straight over her shoulder.
