    Lotos · Ibis · Black

At the beginning of the 1930s, Wolfgang von Wersin created a table service for Nymphenburg that to this day is still regarded as the prime example of his "new objective" style. The versatile designer and architect conceived Lotos as a simple basic shape with sweeping bowls and gently curved handles reminiscent of open blossoms. Initially developed only as a special edition for a customer, Nymphenburg has in 2009 created a version using a variation of the historic pattern: Lotos Ibis Black. The black areas on this modern interpretation of the classic design have been bordered by engraved ribbons made from pure platinum. The platinum bands are applied in several layers by hand using traditional complex techniques and then fired and subsequently engraved and polished with agate and burnishing stones. Which produces an unmistakeable silk-matt relief.
