Ermines and weasels rank among the most popular animal figures in the Art Nouveau porcelain figures. The agility of the small predators is emphasised by the artists as they mainly represented the martens without a pedestal. Theodor Kärner’s creamy-white ermine, which was produced for the first time in 1911, stretches its slim, supple body freely without any spatial constrictions. Its watchful look over its pointed snout and its lowered ears signalise that it is currently in a moment of the highest tension.
