The South Tyrolian artist Maria Delago, who studied in Vienna and Munich, contributed few, but very important pieces to the manufactory’s figurine oeuvre in the 20th century. They include the sensitive representation of this Burmese man. She deliberately contrasts his expression of ultimate inner calm and intimacy with the lively colours of his clothing. Various shades of turquoise, green and blue are blended in the young man’s turban only, and gleam magnificently after firing.
