He is playing the mandolin with great verve, while singing – In the middle of Franz Anton Bustelli's Temple group, this Chinese Man with Lute stands out with his distinctive hat. His attention is focused wholly on his partner, the elegant Chinese Woman with Chime next to him. His instrument, which was also often called the pipa, was for a long time one of the most popular musical instruments in China. Thus the three-stringed lute was particularly favoured for solos and chamber music.
