In 1953, Nymphenburg celebrated the reopening of its Munich boutique. From then on, it was considered good taste, when wandering around the city or especially taking a stroll with foreign guests, to make a trip to Odeonsplatz to survey the (always distinctively decorated) window displays. At this time, passers-by were particularly fascinated by a group of exotic figurines designed by Maria Delago. They included a delicate 12-centimetre-tall Mongol Woman, whom the South Tyrolean sculptress has captured at a moment when she is putting her hair up. It is a figure full of intimate poetry.
