Winter is the crowning glory of Franz Anton Bustelli’s Seasons cycle. Its portrayal is correspondingly vibrant. The boyish putto has casually thrown a fur cloak over his right shoulder and is warming his left flank standing in front of an oven. His hair is down, in the style of a young prince. Bustelli’s skill in sculptural enervation is particularly evident in his unpainted figurines.
