Arkanum
Fascinated by the idea of concealing wealth, the British product designer Khashayar Naimanan invites us to discover a new form of simplicity. He turned the existing convention of service painting on its head by means of his Hidden Wealth production. Whilst the most refined hand painting from the Rococo and the imperial period determine the luxury of a classic service, Naimanan places the precious motifs very deliberately on the lower side of each porcelain piece. The signet of the Nymphenburg porcelain manufactory, originally concealed on the lower side, becomes the focal point. Arkanum continues with the idea and the successful cooperation very consistently in 2011. A stylised vine leaf in black and platinum entwines itself on lotus-shaped plates and cups in 2011. The splendour and beauty is lost on people who look at them by chance – only the owner himself savours the hidden luxury.
