Big Five

Five animal heads made from porcelain – elephant, rhinoceros, deer, wild boar and cat – are presented like hunting trophies on an ebony backing. Traditionally, the BIG FIVE are the largest and most dangerous animals in the world (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard) … kills that any genuine big game hunter worth his salt should have to his name. The humorous and more domestic BIG FIVE selection by the porcelain manufactory is based on the Nymphenburg animal figure masterpieces of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries: from Peter Anton Verschaffelt's rhinoceros – CLARA – to Willy Zügel's reclining cat. Labelled with fake facts and kill locations ranging from Namibia and South Africa through New Zealand to France and Bavaria, the BIG FIVE collection constitutes tongue-in-cheek evidence of their owners' long and successful hunting careers.
