Today as 260 years ago, Nymphenburg still makes its own porcelain mass as an exclusive porcelain maker. The formula is protected like a state secret. Without it, it would be impossible to make such wondrous little objects as this convex water cup by Ted Muehling. The porcelain masters in the workshops realise the American industrial designer’s work, which is as poetic as it is simple, with sides just two millimetres thick. Thus every cup is a nine-centimetre-tall masterpiece.
