Art and architecture

Building art has a long tradition at Nymphenburg. For example, the facade of Munich’s Maximilianeum is adorned with decorative elements made from Nymphenburg terracotta and stoneware. As an expression of cultural identity, the visage and business card of a builder, a city or a country, these projects were given shape in close cooperation with the visual artists collaborating with the Manufactory’s master workshops. In 2013, the sculpture "Platz an der Sonne" at the Gymnasium Trudering was realized for the artist collective “Freie Klasse München”. In the Nymphenburg workshops both minor works and appliqués in porcelain are created, besides large-format designs and reliefs in majolica.
