At the core of Karen Kilimnik's work is the interplay of romantic tradition and consumer culture. Undaunted, she cultivates her sense of romance and knowingly preserves a critical view of human longings and projections that focus on highly acclaimed works of fine art, but also on celebrities and superstars of the fleeting world of pop culture. Her work shifts the real world into a cosmos of daydreams and memories - which can sometimes appear more gentle but sometimes more threatening than reality. Her ROMANTIC SUBLIME edition for Nymphenburg was presented at Art Basel 2010 and was sold out within a short time. Karen Kilimnik (born 1955) lives and works in Philadelphia.
