Terletzki-Scherfs circus

Luise Terletzki-Scherf experimented with bronze, majolica, and stone. Yet it is only in the fine body of Nymphenburg porcelain made at the manufactory that the figures she designed develop the highest level of sculptural quality. In order to create representations of circus artists, the artist from Aschaffenburg undertook countless nature studies, just as she did for her animal figures. The brightly coloured combo, which still delights today with its playful, almost childishly naive charm, is full of emotion.
