The majestic, heraldic animal plays a role in the history of Nymphenburg in two ways: On the one hand, it embodies the Bavarian culture and refers to the location of the manufactory and on the other hand the lion the symbol of the Royal House of Wittelsbach, the founders of Nymphenburg.
