Like every piece in the Lightscape series, Ruth Gurvich’s new Vide-Poche begins with a single sheet of paper. Its texture, folds, and tensions are translated into porcelain.

The form appears as if it has just come into being—light, effortless, and deceptively simple, concealing the complexity of its making. For Gurvich, the fascination lies in transformation: paper defines the language of the form, while porcelain gives it permanence.

Each bowl is crafted entirely by hand in the workshops of the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, combining the precision of nearly 280 years of craftsmanship with the immediacy of the original paper model.

A vide-poche holds the small objects we set down and pick up again each day—a ring, a watch, a key. This bowl keeps them in a form that itself feels like a moment made permanent. Paper, preserved forever.
