Within 13 years, the artist, Theodor Kärner, created 88 animal models for Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. Kärner was particularly good at birds and so most of the avian objects produced today are a result of his work. His TAVOUS is one of the most famous Nymphenburg animal figures, but his smaller depictions of parrots and other birds are also an expression of his great talent. Each of the naturalistically drawn birds is fully formed in character and appears playful, strict, domineering or mysterious. The finely graded underglaze painting underlines the realistic impression of soft and dense feathering.
