Ruth Gurvich was born in Cordoba, Argentina in 1961. She first studied architecture in her home country. In 1979 she changed her focut to the fine arts and continued her studies from 1987 to 1991 at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In her designs Gurvich shows the shapes and structures of everyday things. She became known for her three-dimensional works in paper, which are on the trail of a very unique, filigree aesthetic. In her designs she consciously uses the surface quality of watercolor paper - a material whos rough surface reflects light, show the taunt movement and liveliness to be brought into things. The first German word the designer learned was "Papier" (paper). Ruth Gurvich lives and works in Paris.
