Urs Fischer: Dakis & Lietta (2021/22)
Until 18 September 2022, the Museo Jumex in Mexico City is showing a large solo show entitled "Lovers" with works by Urs Fischer from the last 20 years. For the first time, works from public and private collections worldwide as well as from the archive of the Swiss-born artist have been brought together with new works made for the museum; among them such prominent pieces as "The Lovers #2", a ten-metre-high monumental sculpture made of cast aluminium, partially gilded with gold leaf, or the recently completed sculpture "Dakis & Lietta" in patinated bronze and painted Nymphenburg porcelain. Amidst this eventful landscape of paintings, sculptures, installations, styles and messages spread over three floors, the wide-ranging creativity, humour and depth of the playful work of one of the most exciting artists of our time is revealed. Many of the works on display, including the two mentioned above, were produced by the artist in collaboration with the Kunstgiesserei St.Gallen.
