Are all lions the same? Nothing of the sort. Twenty different variations of what is probably the most famous symbol of Bavaria can be found in the current collection of the manufactory. The majestic, heraldic animal plays a role in the history of Nymphenburg in two ways: On the one hand, it embodies the Bavarian culture and refers to the location of the manufactory and on the other hand the lion the symbol of the Royal House of Wittelsbach, the founders of Nymphenburg.
